You could almost call Strict Joy, the new LP from the Swell Season, an album out of time, dwelling in steep ’70s soul while sounding thoroughly modern in production and songcraft.

Imaad Wasif is a household name for many artists. Playing guitar for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Little Shadow” and having opened for acts such as RTX, The Raconteurs, and Neko Case, Wasif is currently working on his own music and plans to release his third solo album, The Voidist, on October 13th.

After months of lyric deciphering through various YouTube videos and the occasional unveiling of a demo (beginning with a sorta-muffled version of “Benson Hedges”) on their MySpace page, the anticipation of fun.’s debut album has mounted and paid off in the form of Aim & Ignite.
