Rocky Votolato Plays Portland’s Mississippi Studios

Rocky Votolato stopped by Mississippi Studios for what basically became the chillest group sing-a-long in the city of Portland on a Tuesday night. Beginning his set with “Alabaster,” nearly everyone in the audience seemed to know the words to each song, even some of his newer material.

Appropriately and unsurprisingly, Votolato played “Portland’s Leaving” as well as his most recognizable jam, “White Daisy Passing,” to an audience who veritably appreciated the inclusion of both songs. The cover of Cat Stevens’ “Father and Son” was beautiful and sounded fantastic, even if it left some of the kids in the audience looking a bit confused. (Ask your parents, kids.)

The singer/songwriter took the stage in a t-shirt, jeans and black Nikes and laid down a solid acoustic set to a nearly-packed venue. And we have some pictures of the whole thing.

Rocky Votolato’s sixth and newest LP, True Devotion, is currently available via Barsuk.
