fun., Portland, OR

To celebrate the recent release of their fantastic debut album, Aim and Ignite, fun. stopped by Music Millennium in Portland, Oregon for a free in-store performance before their show at the Hawthorne Theater later in the evening. Positioned above the Megadeth section in the local record store, the band brought along Nate Harold and Emily Moore (who would later play play bass and acoustic guitar, respectively, at the Hawthorne gig) for background vocals and played an intimate, five song set.

Vocally humbled by the fact that anyone even bothered to show up, Nate Ruess apologized “for dressing like a scumbag. I had no laundry.” Because, you know, touring. Andrew Dost had recently shared with the band that he knew how to play the intro of Ben Folds Five’s “Brick” into the intro of “Walking the Dog,” so Jack Antonoff demanded that he share his talent with the audience. So that is now something you can request when you see them live. But definitely get out and see them live.

Set list:
“Benson Hedges”
“Walking the Dog”
“All the Pretty Girls”
“The Gambler”
“At Least I’m Not As Sad (As I Used To Be)”
