Tony Lucca Makes His Debut On NBC’s The Voice

In an effort to expand his career and his fan base, one of our favorites, Tony Lucca, made his post-Super Bowl debut on NBC’s The Voice last night. Covering Ray LaMontagne’s “Trouble,” Tony blogged that he lost the first few notes to nerves but powered through the rest of the song as the judges reacted enthusiastically to his performance. After proclaiming his affinity for Tony’s talent and intention of doing… something with it (this show is confusing? Last night’s episode was my first viewing experience), Tony chose to continue his adventure with Adam Levine and shared some early ’90s MMC memories with fellow Mousketeer, Christina Aguilera, backstage.

The most endearing part of the segment was Tony’s pre-audition interview; but his performance is also pretty heartwarming:

As Ernie Halter pointed out, the performance earned Tony a top spot on Twitter’s trending topics last night.

There are few musicians who work as hard as Tony Lucca while promoting a solid sense of community within the music industry. He deserves every good thing that comes to him, and we’re rooting for him till the end. There are no other contestants in this tournament. Game over. Good luck, Tony.

Social Media Coordinator Explores New Ground Within Music Community

Social media genius (as well as longtime friend to Audioholic Media and the Nashville music scene) Nick Hardy is bringing social networking to a new level in his newest media campaign, exemplifying the importance of bridging the gap between technology and the music community.

Breaking format and focusing the spotlight on himself rather than the brands he promotes, Nick is utilzing Twitter as a platform to show Epitaph Records how much he can accomplish with the power of one hashtag when it is backed by the weight of the music community. Through a series of retweets and personal recommendations, bands and music fans are using “#HireNickHardy4SMCoordinator” to unify their efforts and help Nick to exemplify his sense of camaraderie as well as his social media savvy in his efforts to become Epitaph’s next social media coordinator.

It’s clever, and we support it.

Watch Butch Walker’s Video for “Synthesizers”

In case you missed it, Butch Walker debuted his Shane Valdes-directed music video for “Synthesizers” on Friday. The video features Matthew McConaughey reprising his role as Wooderson, the oldest character in Dazed and Confused who isn’t a parent. The movie turns 20 years old next year, which leaves those of us who first watched the movie as kids realizing that we are now right around Wooderson’s age… which is weird.

Hit play and count the seconds until you catch the Butch Walker cameo. (Hint: It should take about 50 seconds.)

If you blinked, you may have also missed the Ron Jeremy cameo. Also, the club version of “Synthesizers” is kind of dope.

Sleigh Bells Premiere Video for “Comeback Kid”

With their second album set for release next month, Sleigh Bells have re-emerged to do what they do best; in their new video for “Comeback Kid,” the first single from their forthcoming Reign Of Terror, Alexis draws the line between aggressively feminine and terrifyingly masculine while Derek walks around with his guitar, looking like a bad ass.

The video was directed by Derek Miller and Gregory Kohn, but we’re guessing Alexis’ 90s/cheer-inspired dance moves were all her.

fun. Premiere New Song, Announce Spring 2012 Tour

Hip-hop producers Emile Haynie (Kanye, The Roots) and Jeff Bhasker (Jay-Z, Beyonce) have collaborated with fun. on their latest Internet release, “One Foot.” Currently available as a b-side on the “We Are Young” 7-inch, “One Foot” sounds very little like the Aim and Ignite version of fun., featuring heavier beats and a dialed-up production value, but the song continues to stick to what the band does best: huge builds with huge payoffs, all lead by Nate Ruess’ soaring vocals as he pours his heart out with each lyric.

“One Foot” will also be featured on the band’s forthcoming Some Nights, available February 21st.

WHY?’s Yoni Wolf Prepares for East Coast Shows

In preparation for next week’s East Coast shows, WHY?‘s Yoni Wolf has made a video documenting all of the tour prep essentials, such as buying sexy pajamas and sampling scented candles. Even if you don’t live anywhere near Connecticut or New York, Yoni is quirky and charming enough to keep you entertained throughout all seven minutes of the video.

For those of you who do live in CT and NYC, prepare for set list comprised primarily of songs you’ve never heard and prepare to hear them in all of their unplugged glory. Yoni, Josiah Wolf, and Doug McDiarmid will take the stage to preview songs from their fifth studio album as well as take questions from the audience in a super-intimate, seated-show setting.

Robert Schwartzman Debuts Double Capricorn

A really long time ago, we told you that Rooney frontman Robert Schwartzman was toying with the idea of doing a solo project. Back then, the project was aptly called SOLOBOB and consisted of a few songs and one publicly-released video. These days, the Robert Schwartzman solo project has manifested itself into an entire solo album entitled Double Capricorn as well as a tour supporting the debut.

Double Capricorn was recorded in Schwartzman’s studio in Los Angeles, where he played nearly every instrument you hear on each track. Every dime of the profits from each sale of the album will be donated to the Tibetan Healing Fund, which you can read all about here.

“Second Chances” is currently streaming for free. Double Capricorn is currently available for purchase.

SXSW Announces Initial Lineup

The folks over at SXSW have announced round one of the artists playing at the conference’s 26th annual music festival and, as always, the list features equal parts blog darlings, local Austinites, and international indie acts. The 2012 SXSW music conference is happening March 9th through March 13th, so expect some changes and don’t set your heart on any particular band just yet, but feel free to get just a little excited.

JEFF the Brotherhood Announce Tour with The Kills

Despite that there is no Jeff, brothers Jake and Jamin Orrall make up the whole of Nashville band JEFF the Brotherhood. The brothers have had an exciting year, marking the release of Live At Third Man (via Third Man Records), We Are the Champions (via Infinity Cat Recordings) and a series of special-edition singles (including a split 7″ with Best Coast), and they are kicking off 2012 in the same fashion, beginning with a tour of North America with fellow rockers, The Kills.

According to Jamin, the tour begins on Jake’s birthday. Make it special, Chicago.
