Tien: Revisited
I interviewed Tien last year because I found his music through a guy who knew a guy who knew someone that I met one time.
It was one of those things.
At the end of it all, Tien ended up being one of my favorite things about 2008 and his song, “Uncharted”, quickly became one of the Top 25 Most Played songs on my iTunes (currently: number ten)– which makes me look really creepy and obsessive because I have a lot of music on my computer. No song that I’ve owned for just over six months should be on that list.
But there it sits… making me look all creepy and obsessive.
His song, “Patience Finds”, held one of my favorite lyrics of the year as well:
Try to force this idea out of my head to self-preserve with restraint from what I’ve said to myself but only in whispers…
His music is pretty but not feminine, and his lyrics break my heart in all the best ways.
Musicians like Tien are the exact reason behind why I began Audioholic Media. I shouldn’t have to hear about him through a guy who knew a guy who knew someone that I met one time. I want him all over the local radio stations. I want to be sick of “Uncharted” by Tuesday. I want people to ask me if I’ve heard of Tien, and I can’t wait until the day that I can be a little pretentious about the fact that I interviewed him before any of my friends knew his name.
To me, he is great. If I have to buy the Patience Finds EP for you just so you will listen to him, I will I’ll think about it.
Until then I’ll just direct you to YouTube and MySpace.
