Stream St. Vincent’s Actor on NPR

As an accidental(?) 4/20 gift, NPR.org is offering up a full stream of St. Vincent’s newest album, Actor. Beginning at 11:59 PM EST (hi-five for getting things “early,” West Coasters!), the entire album will be available to the masses via NPR’s “First Listen” series for the next two weeks.

Though we’ve already heard “The Strangers” and seen the video for “Actor Out of Work,” the entire album proves itself as a solid example of what pop music could be. In addition to Actor‘s two introductory tracks, keep an ear out for “Marrow,” “Just the Same But Brand New,” and “The Bed.”

Without giving too much away, Annie Clark seems to never lose track of her distortion pedal. Just when you assume you’re in the midst of a quiet and pretty St. Vincent song, she starts to jam the fuck out. If you like pretty lullabies with exclamation points and massive chord and tempo changes hidden around every corner, then you have a date with NPR tonight.

If you prefer your St. Vincent live, we’ve got tour dates:
