New Song From Bobby Long: “Windy Rush Blues”

Over the course of the past few months Bobby Long‘s career has seemed to begin progressing at a pretty respectable rate. You want American tour dates? He’s got American tour dates. A song on iTunes? Check. New music? Of course. When we found out about him only two short months ago, it seemed as if he was just a (really old-sounding) kid with a MySpace page. Now he’s booking a summer tour across the U.S.
They grow up so fast.

Thanks to producer Fred Portelli, Bobby’s usual acoustic, singer-songwriter, I-recorded-this-in-my-bedroom sound has been given the production value it deserves. The Frank Portelli Productions MySpace page offers new mixes of “Sad Woman’s Blues” and “This Strange Love,” as well as an opportunity to hear Bobby’s newest song, “Windy Rush Blues.” (If you missed it, Bobby Long seems to be a fan of the blues.)

Though he’s only making a few stops, Bobby is doing a quick pre-summer (aka “spring”) tour here in the U.S.:

04.13.09 New York, NY @ Lakeside Lounge
04.14.09 New York, NY @ Arlenes Grocery
04.16.09 Los Angeles, CA @ Hotel Cafe
04.17.09 Los Angeles, CA @ Whiskey a Go Go
04.18.09 Los Angeles, CA @ Hotel Cafe
04.22.09 Nashville, TN @ 3rd & Lindsley
04.23.09 Nashville, TN @ 3rd & Lindsley

Well we all fell in love with the music awhile ago, or at least thought we did, then we were treated to the full production on Fred’s page and were absolutely blown away!
Thanks for writing about Bobby Long and helping to spread the word on this remarkable singer/songwriter

Thanks for writing about Bobby. He’s amazing. Super talented. I can’t get through the day without listening to him. He has yet to put out a song that doesn’t touch me. All of them are amazing so far and I can’t wait to hear what’s next. I’m SO looking forward to August so I can see him, both here in AZ and in CO with Marcus. Incredible talent.

Thanks for the Bobby update. He really is taking off and has come so far in such a short time. The ‘new’ songs on Fred Portelli’s page are incredible and really show how much range and versatility Bobby’s music has. This boy is the complete package!

Thanks for spreading the word about one of the most exciting new performers to hit the stage in a LONG time….

Love Bobby Long’s singing and guitar-playing, and although the Fred Portelli versions are great, I also love his original, all-acoustic versions.

I’m so excited for everything Bobby has going on right now. He’s amazing and I can’t wait to see him in Seattle in August (and hopefully Portland). Thanks for the awesome article!

This video is making me even more anxious and excited to see Bobby when he comes to Toronto!

His music does sound ol-skool, but that’s why I like it so much more!!

I hope Bobby does amazing, because he’s a natural performer… clearly, he is talented if he can create songs in his bedroom, that most artists can’t even compare their work from the studio!
