Introducing: Middle Distance Runner

Middle Distance Runner’s music seems so versatile that it could be heard while you’re jamming out in traffic or while you’re watching an artsy HBO commercial. This band blends the right amount of indie rock and pop music and could be just the band you’re looking for.
This Washington DC band have been self-releasing albums for a few years now and are hoping to convince a label to climb on board for their upcoming album. Although if nothing pulls through, Middle Distance Runner will proceed to self-release this upcoming album by themselves. In support of their first 7″ single, “The Unbeliever,” Middle Distance Runner will be kicking off an East Coast tour this July.
Another cool thing about their latest single is their music video. Remember when claymation was used only for MTV’s Celebrity Deathmatch? Well, Middle Distance Runner substantially raised the bar on claymation entertainment with “The Unbeliever.” This video views like a real video. It’s interesting to see the level of thought and skill put into something like this, not to mention the careful attention paid to detail. Maxwell Sorensen, the creator of the video, proves that just because you’re playing with cartoon clay people does not mean that you only have to kill them off. He also proves that a camera can be professional and tackle shallow-focus shots (while killing off cartoon clay people).
If you’re waiting around for the new album and this rad video won’t fill your appetite, then be sure to catch Middle Distance Runner on tour:
