June 14th: Audioholic Media turns one-year-old today!
However, if you truly feel the need to send anything our way, we’re accepting donations in the form of cake and compliments.
In the meantime, enjoy our first week of free music. Use it wisely…

These United States: A five-man band that redefines the idea of folk-rock, crossing over to a dichotomy of tunes which allow them to play the genre the way it’s supposed to be played. They don’t only play their songs slow and quiet, they play them fast and loud. They’re not simply playing the regurgitated boring folk that you’ve heard over and over, they’re being witty, loose, and free with their music.
Preview: “Honor Amongst Thieves”
First Impression: A quick and witty song that has nice pacing throughout. This is a fun song.
Listen To: When you’re in the mood to contemplate moral conduct and have a beer… or two.
»Save It: “Honor Amongst Thieves”
Preview: “West Won”
First Impression: This song has a backbone and a Western flair to it. Cowboys. This song is a song that cowboys would kill each other to.
Listen To: When you grow bored of the stories your grandparents tell.
»Save It: “West Won”
Preview: “First Sight”
First Impression: A slow and mellow song which never really “takes off” the way you might expect it to but does what it needs to do. Slow and steady seems to win the race.
Listen To: When you are having one of those sluggish days which ends up slower than it started.
»Save It: “First Sight”

Ravens and Chimes: A six-piece band from New York sporting a wide variety of instruments and vocals to make up one interesting indie group that has a hard time defining itself as “pop,” “rock,” or “folk,” all while being worthy of a listen– even in the midst of an identity crisis.
Preview: “So Long, Marianne” (Leonard Cohen cover)
First Impression: A soft melody with a simple objective. No twists and turns here.
Listen To: When you’re craving Cohen songs by indie hipsters.
»Save It: “So Long, Marianne”
Preview: “January”
First Impression: Lyrically speaking, it’s a song which has the potential to be melodramatic but turns out to be a little more liberating.
Listen To: When you’re in summer heat trying to remember what winter feels like.
»Save It: “January”

Fol Chen: A quirky band that claims to use super powers and the guidance of legendary DJ Donna Donna to fight their nemesis, John Shade. I’m not really sure what all that is supposed to mean, but I can tell that Fol Chen really (and I mean really) want you dance. Hard.
Preview: “Cable TV”
First Impression: A catchy track with drowsy lyrics but an uplifting beat.
Listen To: When you just finished saying something that could constitute as being creepy.
»Save It: “Cable TV”
Preview: “The Believers”
First Impression: Remember the castle stages in Super Mario Brothers? I think this track has some of that in its blood.
Listen To: After you’ve watched so much Unsolved Mysteries that you’re trying to find excuses for all the alien abductions you actually started to believe in.
»Save It: “The Believers”
