Free Music: Layne Montgomery

The music on both Electric Metaphor and Montgomery Biscuits is a little weird. That can be a good thing just as easily as it can mean something really bad. Years ago I met someone who said Radiohead was “weird”… and he meant it in a bad way. Now that dude probably feels like an idiot.
All I can tell you is that I have no idea who will like this music and who won’t– but I can argue both sides equally. I could see it being someone’s favorite album just as easily as I can see someone being really pissed at me for recommending it.
If you visit Layne Montgomery’s website, you can read a brief description of each track on his first and second albums. The lyrics are silly at times. In “Tattooine”, Montgomery admits, “I just don’t know what’s goin’ on with this song.” He describes “Get Happy” as the worst song he’s ever written. Apparently all of the tracks on Electric Metaphor were recorded with the television on.
Of all the things Layne Montgomery’s music may be, boring is certainly not one of them.
